Zukunft: documentary about Swiss club institution comes to cinemas
The closed Zurich club Zukunft becomes the subject of a new documentary titled 'Die Zukunft ist Vergangenheit' (The Future is the Past), which premiered at the Zurich Film Festival on 30 September and opens in cinemas on 25 October.

The film directed by Stephan Schulz and Julian Kirchner documents the club's final days, having been a defining venue for Zurich's nightlife and music culture for nearly two decades. The 99-minute production, a StreamOn co-production in English, German, and Swiss German, also addresses gentrification and how clubs can become a second home for their communities. Before the cinema release, a community premiere on 23 October at Roten Fabrik will be held, followed by a club night.
